GDG Chicago Android

Google Developers Group

The last week of this year started with good news for Android. The point is that developers of VLC Player, which is being used on iPhones and iPads for quite long time, are working now on Android version. And it seems like official release is only few weeks away from now.

It was a little bit hard for VLC team to work on a port at the beginning. But since Google released an updated Native Development Kit (NDK) earlier this month, things started to go a lot easier.

We also have to mention also that there are some issues that can delay the release date. It was always difficult for developers to maintain applications uniformity among such big amount of different Android devices and of course VLC player will not be an exception.
