On December 1, Samsung Electronics Co. announced first near field communication (NFC) chip with embedded flash memory.

Vice president of DDI and C&M marketing, System LSI Division, Samsung Electronics, Tae-Hoon Kim said that NFC is an easy and effective way to transmit encrypted information between mobile devices or between mobile devices and other stationary NFC-enabled devices such as kiosks. NFC can be also used as smartcard for transportation and mobile banking payments.
More interesting is that the chips will be the first on the market to feature embedded flash memory, which will allow device designers easily to upgrade software or firmware. New NFS chip will become available for customers in the first quarter of 2011.  And according to IMS Research, the ratio of mobile phones with NFC capabilities is expected to reach 26 percent in 2015.
But what makes us wander and not only us – will this chip go into the Nexus S or not?
