According to the newest Android stats Android 2.2 (Froyo) now is the most popular OS on the Android-based active devices. A month ago the biggest share was taken by Android 2.1 (41%). But the situation totally changed for the last 30 days - we've got a new leader - Android 2.2 with 43.4%, while Android 2.1 takes only 39.6% and is on the second place.
It’s important to mention also that other Android platform flavors – Android 1.5 and Android 1.6 - are becoming obsolete and now run only on 6.3% and 10.6% of all active devices accordingly.
Situation on the Android market can easily change soon as Google are preparing to represent new version of platform – Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Of course it will take it some time to get to leading positions, but what is obvious now - that 83% of Android phones run on Android 2.x platform.
